Bread and Water Café Maitland is the first 100% gluten free restaurant in town.  Despite having gluten free pastries and breads, customers with and without gluten sensitivities enjoy our food equally.  We focus on fresh farm to table ingredients.  The head chef grows most herbs and spices on site.  Each cut of poultry, kangaroo and beef is derived from a local free range source.  The salmon, prawns and fish and chips arrive fresh, twice a week from the fish monger.  We never source farm raised fish.  As proud Aussies, we procure our wine selection from Hunter Valley vineyards.  Chardonnay, Shiraz and Semillon are readily available for lunch and dinner pairings.

Recognizing that increasingly, more people are being diagnosed with celiac disease, high cholesterol and diabetes, we set out to create something that had never been done in Maitland.  We can each do something to make a difference in our world.  Offering healthy and whole foods to our community is our way of making the world a better place.  It was important for us to provide premium dishes at an affordable price.  Organic food must be accessible to everyone regardless of their ethnicity, origin or economic circumstances.  Everyone is welcome at Bread and Water Café Maitland.  We don’t cut corners in our business.  By focusing on superior ingredients, innovative recipes and superior customer service, we have faith that Maitland will be able to enjoy sumptuous gluten free food for decades to come.  The café is open daily.  Take a gander at our menu to wet your palette.
